A well known and respected motor vehicle manufacturer has a stunning new vehicle to launch. Events are arranged nationally and locally. Existing and prospective customers are invited to the local showroom to enjoy a range of activities, including a local Jazz band, a barbecue, a couple of bouncy castles for the kids – and our climbing wall. The local radio station is running a live show from the forecourt and a brand-new sign-written vehicle is hitched up to the climbing wall trailer. As well as invited guests, the “buzz” of activity attracts plenty of passers-by while the live radio show attracts more from further afield. The knowledgeable sales staff are on hand to provide all the important details of the vehicle and take individuals’ details while customers soak up the ambience of the event. The important statistic is how many vehicles get sold that day? Did the expense (and stress!) of organising such an event pay for itself? |

Case Study 1 |
|
A local primary school wanted to get involved with a locally organised fun-run event. As it was considered that some of the eight year olds would be unable to complete the 5 mile running event, one class decided to climb the equivalent of 5 miles instead with the objective that all class members could get involved to the limit of their own abilities. With almost 1100 individual climbs needed, this was no mean feat. The class of 30 children climbed in teams of 6, with each team raising money based on the number of climbs completed by the team. Each team operated on a 4 on / 2 off basis to ensure that climbers were not over exerted. Each team had a target of over 200 climbs, with individual targets of 36 climbs – a considerable event that needed a great deal of management on the ground, as well as on the wall. As adults and older children were finishing the various fun-run distances, then the 8 year olds were finishing their own particular marathon. In total, the wall was in use for over 14 hours and over £600 was raised for the chosen charity. At the end, everyone was exhausted – except the children, who just wanted to keep on playing on the wall! |

Case Study 3 |

A local employer runs a family open day to enable employees to showcase their work to their friends and families. The employer has a nominated charity – the local air ambulance and any money raised during the day is donated to the charity. Some 10,000 visitors are expected over the course of the day and our climbing wall is one of the many attractions available. Business is brisk and there is always a queue for the wall. By the end of the day, over 300 climbers have enjoyed the adventure of the climbing wall. Almost £300 profit was made by the climbing wall and a further £500 by the Bouncy Truck. For the whole event, the charity is given a cheque for over £3600 – our contribution increased the fund-raising potential of the event by over 44%. |
